What is Reiki?

According to the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP), Reiki is a subtle and effective form of energy healing using spiritually guided life force energy. While often considered to be spiritual in nature, Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice.

The positive and significant therapeutic effect of Reiki is being recognised worldwide and it is a “hands on healing” treatment increasingly being offered in hospitals, hospices, and private practice settings and can be applied to a wide variety of illnesses and conditions. Those who receive such treatments report relief of symptoms from numerous health problems, including emotional and mental health issues. Research shows that Reiki significantly helps in reduction of stress, anxiety and depression as well as providing relief of chronic physical pain (which can also cause anxiety and depression).

What is involved in a Reiki Session?

At its most basic, a Reiki treatment consists of the practitioner laying their hands on the body, often in a prescribed pattern, and allowing the healing Universal Life Force Energy to flow through their hands to the person being treated. This holding of space allows the persons own body to heal itself.

Reiki can be used in any situation where there is a genuine desire and openness to healing. Treatment is non invasive, simple yet effective.

Human’s are really just energy systems and the Universal Life Force Energy is the most essential element of the human energy system. We experience problems and illness when we don’t have enough energy or when our energy systems (chakras) are out of balance or blocked. A Reiki treatment increases our energy flow, can shift blockages and can help to rebalance our chakras, this in turn can allow us to heal and experience wellness. It’s also very relaxing and calming.
